## What is acoustic absorption?

Acoustic absorption refers to a material's ability to reduce sound reflections inside a room — distinct from sound insulation, which blocks sound passing between rooms. Re-Sound panels are absorption-rated using the αw (weighted absorption coefficient, ISO 11654) and NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient, ASTM C423) standards. Class A absorption (αw ≥ 0.90) is the highest practical rating for interior panels.

## What does "circular" mean for Re-Sound?

Three things, in combination:

1. Recycled input — recycled textiles, recycled PET bottles, or FSC veneer on a recycled-felt core.
2. Recyclable output — single-material constructions where possible.
3. Free take-back service — Re-Sound collects panels at end of life and returns the materials to the recycling stream.

## Take-back logistics

The free take-back program covers Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Luxembourg. End of life is interpreted liberally — panels are accepted when an interior is being refurbished, when a tenant moves out, or when a project ends. Re-Sound coordinates pickup with the installer or facility manager; small volumes can be returned via the original shipping carrier. The collected material is sorted by family (textile, wood, PET) and fed back into the supply chain: textile fibres become new Interior / Solid / Divide cores, wood veneers are remilled into rWood substrates, PET is granulated for the rPET line. No landfill, no incineration.
