PET acoustic panels: rPET Panel, Groove and Flex Groove
PET acoustic panels turn post-consumer bottles into a dense polyester felt that absorbs sound, takes a CNC cutter like MDF and comes in a colour palette architects actually use. Re-Sound is a Stretch Group brand. We manufacture in our own plants in Beveren-Waas (Belgium) and Częstochowa (Poland); the rPET range is produced in Częstochowa. The range has three models. rPET Panel is the flat sheet: cut it, mill it, drill it and paint it for walls, ceilings and furniture. rPET Groove adds a grooved surface in 12 colours and three thicknesses for higher absorption on walls and ceilings. rPET Flex Groove keeps the grooved look but bends around columns and curved walls down to a 500 mm radius. All three are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, reach B-s1,d0 or B-s2,d0 under EN 13501-1 and can be taken back for recycling at end of life. Use the table below to compare PET acoustic panels by format, absorption and lead time, then open the model page for finishes and downloads.

Frequently asked questions
Are PET acoustic panels really made from recycled bottles?
Yes. The felt is made from recycled PET bottle fibre; rPET Groove and rPET Flex Groove are 100 % recycled PET. Every model is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, so the material is suitable for schools and healthcare.
How much sound do PET acoustic panels absorb?
It depends on thickness and mounting: rPET Groove reaches NRC 0.55 (12 mm), 0.75 (24 mm) and 0.90 (36 mm); rPET Panel reaches up to αw 1.00 when mounted on a frame with an air cavity. Panels glued directly to the wall absorb less than panels with a cavity behind them.
What fire class do recycled PET acoustic panels have?
rPET Groove and rPET Flex Groove are classified B-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1; the rPET Panel spec sheet states B-s2,d0. The fire certificate for each model is on its downloads block.
Can I cut and paint PET acoustic panels on site?
Yes. rPET Panel behaves like MDF: cut, mill, drill and screw it with standard tools, and paint it in any RAL or NCS colour. The grooved panels are cut to size on site with a fine-tooth blade.
What is the lead time for PET acoustic panels?
Stock colours ship in 2–3 weeks from our Częstochowa plant; custom colours take 5–6 weeks. Large projects are scheduled in production batches — ask us for a binding date before you order.
Is PET felt fire-safe?
Yes. Our rPET panels are classified B-s1,d0 according to EN 13501-1, which makes them suitable for both private homes and public buildings. Check the exact requirement for your project with your acoustician or fire-safety adviser.
Can I cut and paint rPET panels?
Yes, rPET panels can be both cut and painted. Cut them with a knife (even a ceramic kitchen knife), a circular saw, a panel saw or an angle grinder fitted with a metal-cutting blade. Re-Sound UV-prints rPET panels in-house, so you can order custom graphics, or you can paint the panels yourself and use them as a canvas for your own acoustic artwork.
How much sound does a 24 mm PET panel absorb?
A 24 mm rPET panel has a weighted sound absorption coefficient αw of 0.85, which corresponds to absorption class B according to ISO 11654. Mounting the panel with an air gap behind it improves absorption at low frequencies. Check the exact requirement for your room with your acoustician.
