rWood Groove: grooved wood acoustic panels in oak and walnut

Natural beauty, perfect acoustics.

A-grade oak or walnut veneer on an MDF core, precision-grooved into vertical lamellas on a 3 mm recycled-PET felt. The open grooves lead sound into the felt; planks join with a concealed tongue-and-groove. Planks of 300 mm wide, 2 400 or 2 780 mm long, in 10 and 19 mm, for walls and ceilings.

OVERVIEW

Grooved oak or walnut on recycled-PET felt

rWood Groove combines an A-grade oak or walnut veneer with an MDF core that is precision-grooved into vertical lamellas. The 3 mm recycled-PET felt behind the lamellas takes the sound that enters through the open grooves, which cuts reverberation and improves speech clarity. The Original lamella pattern as standard and other patterns on request, five stock veneers, and any veneer and finish to order.

Five stock veneers, oiled or lacquered. Select a veneer to see it on the plank.

Oak: penetrating oil or lacquer

Finish: penetrating oil or lacquer. Oak oil colours: Natural, White, Clear, Brown, Dark Brown and Black.

Walnut

Natural, oiled. Rich, figured brown (Walnut) or warm mid-brown (Tobacco Walnut).

Felt colour

3 mm recycled-PET felt behind the lamellas, visible through the grooves.

Behind the plank

Mounted on battens, the cavity can take an extra absorber: acoustic felt, an rPET panel or mineral wool.

INSTALLATION

Tongue-and-groove, on battens or glued

Planks are fixed on battens or glued to the substrate and join with a concealed tongue-and-groove, so the joints disappear in the groove pattern.

    Start from a corner and check the level.

    Slide the tongue into the groove for a seamless joint.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the FSC-certified veneer come from?

The veneer is FSC®-certified: chain-of-custody certificate C191539. All twelve rWood veneers come from responsibly managed forests; the certificate is available on request.

What is the fire rating?

It depends on the core. With the fire-retardant (FR) MDF core, rWood Groove is classified B-s1,d0 to EN 13501-1; on a standard MDF core the classification is D-s2,d2. The felt backing is B-s1,d0. Specify the FR core for escape routes and public buildings.

What is the standard lead time?

The lead time is subject to stock and is confirmed on order. Free veneer samples are available before you specify; prices and the minimum order on request.

How are rWood panels installed?

rWood Groove is fixed on battens or glued to a clean, dry, level substrate. Start from a corner, slide the tongue of each plank into the groove of the previous one for a seamless joint, and close the edges with end mouldings.

What happens to the panels at end of life?

Re-Sound takes the planks back free of charge at end of life in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Luxembourg.
