Wood acoustic panels in FSC veneer: grooved, perforated, micro-perforated, smooth
Wood acoustic panels bring a real veneer surface to walls and ceilings without giving up absorption. Re-Sound is a Stretch Group brand. We manufacture in our own plants in Beveren-Waas (Belgium) and Częstochowa (Poland). The rWood range covers four surfaces on one construction principle: an FSC-certified veneer over an acoustic core. rWood Groove is the linear slat look with oak and walnut veneers on a felt backing (αw 0.90). rWood Micro drills 0.5 mm micro-perforations through the veneer, so the wood reads as a closed surface while the panel absorbs (αw 0.90, B-s1,d0). rWood Perf uses visible perforation patterns with 5 to 8 mm holes, tuned between αw 0.35 and 0.85. rWood Panel is the smooth veneered sheet for areas where the wood, not the acoustics, leads. Eight veneers run across the range, from Beech White Ash to Tobacco Walnut. Frequently asked questions
Which wood acoustic panel absorbs the most?
rWood Groove and rWood Micro both reach αw 0.90 with a felt or mineral-wool backing. rWood Perf ranges from αw 0.35 (PH5) to 0.85 (PD8) depending on the perforation pattern. rWood Panel is a smooth veneered board chosen for its look rather than its absorption.
Is the veneer on wood acoustic panels FSC-certified?
Yes — every rWood model uses FSC®-certified veneer, and rWood Panel also has an EPD available on request. Chain-of-custody documentation is available for tenders.
What fire class do wood acoustic panels achieve?
With the fire-retardant core the rWood models are classified B-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1; on a standard MDF core the classification is D-s2. Specify the FR core for escape routes and public buildings.
Can micro-perforated wood panels be backlit?
Yes — rWood Micro is available with a backlit option: the 0.5 mm perforations let light through while the surface still reads as solid wood.
How are wood acoustic panels mounted, and what is the lead time?
All models mount on a concealed clip system (or glue-fixing for permanent installations); rWood Groove can also be fixed to battens with tongue-and-groove joints. Stock veneers ship in 3–4 weeks; non-stock species and custom finishes in 6–8 weeks.
Micro-perforated or grooved wood panels: which absorbs more?
Without a backing absorber, grooved rWood panels absorb more than micro-perforated ones, because the felt between the grooves adds absorption. With a backing absorber behind the panel, such as acoustic felt, an rPET panel or mineral wool (rock wool or glass wool), both systems reach the same absorption values.
Are the veneers FSC-certified?
Yes. Re-Sound uses only FSC-certified veneers for its rWood panels. This applies to the whole rWood range, both grooved and micro-perforated.
